Tommy T. “discovered” Ms. Moore. At least that’s the way she puts it. Tommy T. relates:
“I’d been busking- street performing- outside the Kirkland PCC Natural Food Market for months and had exchanged pleasantries with Christine many times, as she worked full time in the deli. She never said anything about singing.”
“One day I was singing “Walking After Midnight”, and I heard this ethereally beautiful voice in the distance singing along. I looked over and saw Christine sitting on some steps 15 feet away. I had her come set down beside me, and we sang “Crazy”, the song written by Willie Nelson that Patsy Cline made famous. I was blown away!”
“I really had to coax and cajole Christine to “come out” as a singer- though I think deep down she knew she had a God-given talent that demands to be developed.”
“One customer I’d gotten to know, Brian Shive, who is a “reformed musician”, and has been around and exposed to a lot of music, said, ‘Christine has the best untrained voice I’ve ever heard.’”
“Christine has gone on to get a professional voice coach. I think, if she gets a break or two, she could some day be a professional opera singer.”
Ms. Moore has performed in the following Puget Sound area musicals: “South Pacific” (Civic Light Opera), “Pirates of Penzance” (Bellevue Opera), “The Ugly Duckling” (Storybook Theatre), and “Evita” (Eastside Musical Theatre). She is scheduled to appear in the coming October production of “Carmen” at the Meyedenbauer Center on Mercer Island.
